Facebook Pages are one of the most important ways of marketing for businesses in today’s world. These Fan pages build a rapport between the businesses and the fans (consumers and prospective consumers alike). Businesses can easily share latest news about the product or service, events, or anything, which may spark the interest of the consumer.
There are some businesses, which still have not understood the importance of Facebook Pages and it’s fans, or in other words, they have not understood the art of making their Facebook Page more attractive, interactive, engaging and useful towards their marketing efforts. So, for those who still are struggling to maintain or generate more fans, we have developed a list of the things a Facebook fan page should avoid in order to represent itself as socially responsible and reliable to it’s users.
1. Position too frequently
Businesses who update too often on their Facebook Pages are more likely to have an increasing ratio of fans leaving their pages. The best practice would be a maximum of 5 times a day. I personally wouldn’t be happy if my Facebook wall is flooded with updates from a fan page, which I liked. According to a survey, the most common factor of a fan leaving a fan page is because of its frequent updates. So, make sure you don’t fall victim to this, as it is a very simple practice to observe.
2. Discounts & Promotions
A recent survey has revealed that more than 60% of the users become a fan of a brand because of the discounts and promotions being offered to it’s fans. If your fan page doesn’t offer any discounts or promotions, start working on providing incentives to the users and watch the number of fans grow.
3. Textual Updates Only
There are many fan pages with boring text-based updates containing little to no substance. In our opinion, it would be a very helpful step for a fan page to incorporate interesting videos and images in their posts. Every business has something unique in its process, product, or services. Why not highlight it by posting a video or an image to your fan page and sharing it with the world.
4. Engaging Fans
The most difficult and important element of a fan page is to keep engaging it’s fans by using posts or comments. Do not think that your fans are going to start engaging with you without any effort on your part. You need to spark debates, interact and work towards building a community, where they are open to share their views and also provide suggestions. Think of different ways of engaging with them, i.e. Polls, Quizzes, Contests, Images, and Videos etc.
5. Know Your Audience
A Fan page should know what its fans’ interests are. It needs to share things, which builds rapport between a fan page and its fans. There is a famous expression “Knowing is better than wondering”. However, another common expression states: “Knowing is not enough”. YES! Knowing what your fans want, doesn’t really mean that your fan page is performing well; you need to implement the things you know and only then you can say that your Facebook Fan page is doing what it was supposed to do.
Conclusion
